About Food and Drink Spot Stain Remover

Our Spot Stain Treater is your all-in-one weapon against common household food stains.

Some stains; like berries, tea, watermelon and tomato juice will fade within 30 minutes application. For other stains, pre-treating them before putting them in the wash will stop the stain from setting so that they can be easily removed during the wash cycle.

The Food and Drink Stain Remover uses the natural power of oxygen bleach to deliver the job, making it really really great for dye based stains. For stains that are protein based; like blood and oil - try our Oil, Body and Grease Stain Remover.

What it Smells Like

The Food and Drink Spot Stain Treater contains a Nature Identical scent: Sun Vite.

The smell of the stain remover overall is quite perceptible for two reasons.

The leading notes of this scent are; Basil, Tea Tree, Orange and Lemongrass. All scents that are quite good at cutting through bad odours.

Oxygen bleach does have a smell. It's the active ingredient in the product. Historically the smell of this ingredient was masked by layers of synthetic scents, but we don't think this is necessary, as it's a wash on wash off product. We have just enough scent to make your experience with Stain Remover a pleasant one.

Sun Vite contains the following essential oils: Orange Oil, Basil Oil, Lemongrass Oil, Lime Oil, Mandarin Oil, Tea tree Oil.

FAQs

Does the Food and Drink Spot Stain Treater bottle come full?

Yes, it comes full with 475 ml of Stain Remover.

Does the Carry On bottle come full?

Yes, it comes full with 20 ml of Food and Drink Spot Stain Treater.

Which stains will the Food and Drink Spot Stain Treater work best on?

The Food and Drink Spot Stain Remover will work best on dye based stains; such as berries, watermelon, ice poles, tea, etc. This is due to the combination of oxi-action bleach and surfactants.

Stains that are protein based; like blood or collar sweat, will best treated with the Oil, Body and Grease Stain Remover or Powder Booster, as they will respond best to enzymes - which cannot co-exist with oxygen bleach in a liquid base.

Which stains won't the Food and Drink Spot Stain Treater work on?

While nearly all stains will get a lift from use of the Food and Drink Spot Stain Treater; some protein stains will respond better to a spot treat with the laundry detergent.

This is because the main stain removal ingredients in the Spot Stain treater are; oxygen bleach and surfactants (which break down colour based molecules like sythetic and natural food dye and lift them away).

The main stain removal ingredients in the Laundry Detergents are enzymes and surfactants (which break down oil and protein stains like blood and grease spills, and lift them away).

Fun fact: Oxygen bleach and enzymes cannot exist in the same liquid formula, as the bleach will kill the enzymes. They can however co-exist in powder form, as the molecules are not 'activated' - so if you're after a low key washing solution, Powder Booster might be your go to.

Can I use this on all fabrics?

The Food and Drink Spot Stain Treater cannot be used on fabrics that say "do not bleach". You'll typically find these labels on the inside left of your clothes.

The labels generally exist on delicate fabrics; like wools and silks, and fabrics that have not been through a thorough 'dye setting' process.

If in doubt, we would recommend you patch test, by spraying a small amount of the stain solution onto an inconspicuous part of the fabric, and wait 30 minutes to check that everything is okay first.

Are the Food and Drink Spot Stain Treater Refills part of the Refill Return program?

Absolutely, yes. All our refills are collected for reuse.

What happens if I leave the Food and Drink Spot Stain Treater on for more than 30 minutes?

On many fabrics, nothing will happen.

But on others, where the dye setting process was incomplete, or a lot of optical brightener was added through the manufacturing process, the stain remover will start to work beyond the surface stain and into the dye itself.

30 minutes is a conservative window of time to leave your product on; it will keep your fabric safe while allowing time for the stain remover to work. It's a good, general rule.

After this period of time, we'd recommend blotting the fabric with water to lift the stain solution, or turning on the washing machine.

We get it, stain removal is complicated.

Selecting the right product for each stain can be challenging, so we’ve created a convenient stain guide to assist you.
